Animal Pain Awareness Month

Pet Wants

What is Animal Pain Awareness Month?

September is a month dedicated to educating pet owners about animal discomfort. The primary goal of Animal Pain Awareness Month is improving the quality of life for our furry friends. The International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management has many ways you can get educated and involved during Animal Pain Awareness Month.

What can I do to monitor my pet’s pain?

There are several ways you can monitor your pet, and the first way we recommend is to be mindful of their behavior. Your pet will tell you a great deal through their actions. If you notice a behavioral change, something may be wrong. If this is the case, proceed with caution. Just like humans, animals can and may lash out when they are in pain. We recommend taking a visit to your veterinarian, and of course keeping up with routine visits. However, there are many preventative measures you can take before it gets to this point.

How can Pet Wants help?

While some pets may need medication, that is not always the answer, which is why taking preventative measures is extremely important. Unfortunately, it is far too common that pet parents do not know they are feeding their four legged friends mass-produced food with low nutritional value. At Pet Wants, we avoid ingredients that can contribute to pet allergies and health issues such as:

  • Sugar
  • Corn
  • Wheat
  • Soy
  • Artificial Colors
  • Animal By-Products
  • Fillers

Leaving out these ingredients leads to less feeding, improved skin and coats, and overall happier and healthier pets.
